Manchester’s leading sales and event marketing firm, Blue Moose believe that entrepreneurs who are able to triumph regardless of the challenges and setbacks they face along the way are guaranteed to forge a successful path for themselves.
In a workshop held for their contractors last week, Blue Moose shared some valuable coping mechanisms that are guaranteed to help professionals overcome any setback and help them achieve their goals.
Be an optimist – According to research conducted by the renowned psychologist, Martin Seligman, individuals can learn to stay positive in the face of adversity by simply adjusting the way in which they explain particular events to themselves. Blue Moose believe that optimism plays a big part in individual’s ability to do this effectively. Optimistic people are experts at compartmentalising negative experiences and ensuring that they do not jeopardise their overall goal.
Use healthy coping mechanisms – Although Blue Moose appreciate that it is natural and even healthy for people to reflect on their mistakes, the firm believes that it is important to resist the urge to over indulge thoughts of failure and dwell on the setback for too long. Instead, Blue Moose encourage their contractors to adopt healthy coping mechanisms such as engaging in team sports. Research from Princeton suggests that exercise reduces anxiety and puts people in a better position to deal with stress.
Learn from your mistakes – As many successful entrepreneurs will attest to, setbacks and mistakes are part of becoming a business owner. During the session, Blue Moose explained to their contractors that an individual’s ability to learn from their mistakes can often be the difference between their success or prolonged failure. The firm then encouraged their workforce to adopt growth-oriented thinking, which helps individuals focus on what they have learned and how this knowledge can help them advance their goals in a positive way, as supposed to focus on the situation that caused their particular setback.
A spokesperson for Blue Moose stated “All good entrepreneurs have faced unbelievable setbacks during their career, but the key to their success has been their ability to bounce back from it, learn, and move on. This is the key message that we want our contractors to keep at the forefront of their minds at all times as it will help them drive their success.”
